Over 10,000 Australians served in RAF Bomber Command during World War Two. At its end, more than 4,000 Australians had been killed on operations. The battle losses were greater than any other Australian contingent, and the chances of surviving a tour of 30 missions was less than half. ​The men who returned to Australia formed squadron associations to maintain strong friendships with their Squadron mates, and the family members of those who did not return.

The Bomber Command Association in Australia (BCAA) was formed in 1997 when members of dwindling squadron associations realised they needed a combined group to carry on their legacy. Today, the family and friends of those veterans continue their legacy through regular social and commemorative events. The publication of a quarterly newsletter means all members learn more about the history of Bomber Command and are kept up to date on news of interest to the Bomber Command Family.

The BCAA works closely with the Air Force Association and other groups to commemorate the veterans' bravery and sacrifice. Commemorative services are held around Australia annually, including at the Bomber Command Memorial at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. Through commemoration and other events we ensure the service of Bomber Command is acknowledged and never forgotten.
